I was highly apprehensive when I first heard the whispers of AI, specifically in marketing. I did not trust it or want to be affiliated with something that would make me appear lazy or cheat as a marketer. For some reason, there was a negative connotation regarding using AI in marketing. As time passed, I noticed that many of the tools I use for my boutique branding & digital marketing agency, Jules Management Group, incorporated AI into their platform, tools like Agorapulse (Social Media Scheduler), Constant Contact (Email Marketing), and even LinkedIn (Professional Social Media Platform).
AI was here to stay in some form, so I decided to play with some tools to see their potential. I was stunned. I quickly learned that AI is a powerful tool that can help organizations, especially small businesses, tackle some of their marketing needs more efficiently and cost-effectively.
Benefits of AI Marketing Tools
To further understand AI’s benefits for small businesses, I decided to reach out to some thought leaders in the marketing space who have embraced the power of AI for their insights. Check out what they had to say below.
“I think the AI revolution was built for small businesses. Everywhere I go, large companies are stalled on AI. They are frozen by legal concerns, paralyzed trying to figure out the ROI. Meanwhile, small businesses can charge ahead and find new ways to enhance their business. Think about this opportunity — even a small business has access to an AI as powerful as that used by the richest person in the biggest company in your town!”
“Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Google Bard allow business owners to do more with less. AI works as a kind of super-intelligent marketing assistant that drafts social media posts, email copy, and blog posts in a flash. Human intelligence is still required — a human must write the prompts and edit the responses so that the AI-generated content is aligned with the brand voice and core values of the company, tailored to the specific needs of its clientele, and distributed smartly across digital platforms.”
“AI empowers small businesses to elevate their marketing by automating tasks and delivering personalized customer experiences. To get started, businesses can explore accessible AI-driven tools like chatbots, predictive analytics, or automated email campaigns to optimize their strategies, improve targeting, and increase ROI with minimal resources.”
“AI provides small businesses with the ability to automate repetitive tasks like scheduling posts or sending follow-up emails, saving valuable time. It also helps with analyzing customer data for more personalized marketing, allowing businesses to target the right audience more effectively. A key tip is to leverage AI tools that are scalable and user-friendly, ensuring you get the most benefit without needing extensive technical skills.”
“AI is truly revolutionizing small businesses by automating tasks like content scheduling and email campaigns, which frees up time for other strategic initiatives. Repetitive processes can ultimately become streamlined, giving these companies a competitive edge. I see AI as a 24/7 marketing companion that helps small businesses stay ahead of the trends without needing a ton of resources.”
Artificial Intelligence has transformed the digital marketing landscape. It has created incredible opportunities for small businesses to leverage to compete with larger companies without having a large team or hiring an expensive agency to lead their marketing efforts. If you’re a small business owner, I encourage you not to be scared of AI but rather embrace it to help you meet your business goals.
